California!

With the prospects of me leaving this country of war criminals and UN haters for good in not too long, and possibly not seeing my Californian sister in spirit Leslie for a very long time (and her threatening to secretly spoil all my attempts of getting a job at home), I flew to California for a short, but sweet weekend (also, I couldn't let my favorite partner in crime go to her company's Holiday party all by herself, or at least without me...).

And what a weekend! A late arrival and three-hour jetlag did not stop the girl-talk Thursday night, but that did not stop a full day of San Francisco sightseeing Friday. Thank you to Scott for putting together a great itinerary filled with great views of the city & the bridge, plus all kinds of historical points of interest (unfortunately, I seem to have forgotten some of the factoids, so the recounts to my historian boyfriend are somewhat lacking in detail...). Friday night found us on a dancefloor in fabulous North Beach, and Saturday held a beautiful drive down Highway 1 to Santa Cruz - including stops at every lighthouse, beach and point of historical interest on the way.

The circus-themed Holdiay party was a display of how things can be done with festive extravaganza - acrobats, jugglers, live snakes, a lion trainer (apparently the lion had escaped)and the CEO dressed up as a jester (I'd love to see my boss wearing a cap 'n bells hat!) - and I cannot begin to describe how sad and cheap our Holiday party next weekend will seem in comparison... I guess that's what you get for working for the government.

And for my fabulous Leslie: until next time!

Of the MANY, these are my two favorite photos as well! I also like that we are "sisters in spirit"... quite fitting considering how many people seemed to believe that we are actually related! I am so, SO glad that you came out to play. :)
